Businesses face rapid change and increasing uncertainty driven by a myriad of factors, including geopolitical events, volatile financial markets, technology developments, cybersecurity, data privacy concerns, and climate change. This is particularly  uncertain time for businesses as the global economy experiences heightened volatility and rapid change. The reality is that risk management remains underdeveloped in many organisations.

In this environment, proper risk management will be increasingly important for organisations to ensure their resiliency and success over long term. To drive more efficient ERM, management must draw upon CFOs, holders of other finance function, Internal Auditors and all other responsible managers to ensure risk management practices provide a holistic understanding of opportunity and risk linked to objectives and value creation.

Undoubtedly, a Risk Register is essential in the successful management of risk. A good Risk Register is critical to informed decision-making and therefore needs to be tailored to your organization and updated regularly.

In fact, as a matter of emphasis, the Government of Ghana (through its agencies like Ministry of Finance, Ghana Audit Service and State Enterprises Commission) requires all MDAs, MMDAs and SOEs to adopt comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management processes and also maintain Risk Register.

In its quest to support the drive of this process, the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana), in collaboration with an ERM Specialist, is organising workshops across the country to equip managers with the requisite tools for effective ERM. This two-day workshop explores risk assessments, the qualities of an effective risk register and its benefits to an organization. By participating in this workshop you will learn how to design an effective risk register and gain an understanding on how your organization should identify and manage threats and opportunities.
