2015 Accountants’ Conference Resources
The Ghanaian Central Regional Minister Aquinas Tawiah Quansah has called on the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ghana (ICAG) to weed out bad accounting professionals whose attitude bring the association’s name into disrepute.
Speaking at the opening of the Annual General Meeting in Cape Coast on Tuesday, Tawiah Quansah said it was very disheartening to read and hear in newspapers and on radio that millions of cedis had been siphoned from public purse by the help of some accounting professionals.
He said it was high time as accounting professionals proved their worth to the general public by naming and shaming charlatans among them so as to win public confidence.
The President of ICAG, Professor Kwame Boasiako Omane –Antwi, called on accounting professionals to exhibit high sense of integrity so as to enhance socio-economic development of the country.
He also appealed to them to be abreast with current technology, which is driven by Information Technology so as to meet the growing challenges in the accounting world.
More than 2000 accounting professionals are attending the two-day meeting to take stock on the previous year and make projections for the years ahead.
